Tribal Meeting

With the new school year, Indian Princess's has started back up again! We hosted our first tribal meeting last night and it was a hit. It was the first meeting of the year and we had a great turnout. The tribe has grown this year and is, I believe, the biggest in the nation. Mike said there were 24 dads and all the daughters to go along (some dad's have two!). Needless to say, we had a HOUSE FULL. After helping get the snacks out and everything set up, William and I bailed. I couldn't wait to return and see how everything went. Mike said it went over without a hitch. We had tables set up in the garage and that's where the girls did the craft. Did I mention that Mike is "Craft Master" this year? They made their own teepees last night. I think it was a successful night and I know Maddie had a great time and was in her glory. That's what's all about!

Lego Land

What can I say. We did Lego Land today. It was an all day adventure and was overall, pretty fun. It was our first trip to the park and we had a little trouble figuring out the ropes. The hardest part for us was that Maddie could go on all the rides and William was still quite restricted either by height or by age (which really irked me). I don't want to come off as negative though. The kids really seemed to love it. It was a beautiful day. The kids played in an awesome water park area, it wasn't very crowded and the lines were fast. It was good end to a fun weekend and we'd been promising the kids all summer that we'd do Lego Land so they were stoked.

San Diego

We picked a great weekend to slip down to San Diego. It was HOT in Orange County. It must have been triple digits because we've been home for 4 hours now and our house is still not cool. With that said, we tagged along with Mike on a work incentive trip and had a GREAT little get away. The kids and I drove down Saturday morning and met Dad at the hotel. We stayed at the Marriott overlooking Petco Park in the Gaslamp district. Talk about cool. Our room had a view of the ballpark. After Maddie and Wil burned off some pent up, car ride energy jumping between the beds, we walked over to the park (literally right across the street) and took in a Padres game. After a few innings at the ballpark, Wil and Dad headed back for naps and Maddie and I were free to do some SHOPPING! We had so much fun. Maddie loved trying on all the clothes with me and she came up with her own "style" at White House Black Market. The ladies in the store were so sweet. They were encouraging Maddie and admiring the outfit she put together. One of the Saleswoman brought her a pair of pumps to boot. She had a ball.
After walking the 6-8 blocks over to the mall, we decided to catch a "Pedi Cab" to tote us back to the hotel. Maddie loved that and it was pretty fun. The bicyclist couldn't believe it was our first pedicab ride.
On our way to dinner, we popped into a fun toy store Maddie and I had scouted out earlier in the day and they each got to pick out a toy. Maddie insisted on this big plush dog. Like she doesn't have a gazillion stuffed animals and William picked out a new train and car (surprise, surprise). It was a great day.

A Breakfast Birthday Party

Saturday morning we drove up to LA to a cute little park in La Canada Flintridge to celebrate our good friend Lucy's 3rd birthday! Erin had a whole breakfast spread complete with cereal, bagels, chocolate milk, coffee, juice and Krispy Kreme birthday donuts. The kids had such fun seeing their friends Lucy, Fallon and Fletcher and they loved meeting Lucy's cousin Rosie who they know from the Hunt's family blog. :)

Rockin' out!

We had a weekend of back-to-back birthday parties which prompted a trip to Toys-R-Us last Thursday. Maddie still had funds left on a couple of gift certificates from her birthday so I let her pick out something she said she'd "always wanted". She was sold on this Barbie guitar as soon as she heard the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Now she wants to be in a band... the girl is a performer!
And so is her brother... like the "no pants" look with the guitar pre-bathtime? They were cracking up playing with this new toy. Such fun. Meanwhile, after the 100th time of hearing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", I said to Mike, "What was I thinking?"

Orange Street Fair

We went to the Orange International Street Fair yesterday afternoon after church. Mike and Maddie volunteered to work the booth for the YMCA for an hour handing out fliers about the Indian Princess program. The rest of us joined up with them to enjoy the food, crowds and some face painting.
Maddie and Mike sported their Indian Princess vest the whole time.
I tried my best to discourage the face painting because we were going to go swimming at Grandma's house right after but the kids insisted. We waited in line and it proved to be well worth it. The face painting was pretty cool. They loved it.
William opted for the batman face. Isn't it cool? We told him he looked like a "Yah-Yah"...the wrestler toys he loves.
If you look closely you'll see my goofy father-in-law Mike peeking his face in our family photo.

Babies!

Just some fun updates of baby Richard and baby Lucas. Norma came to babysit William on Friday and talk about irony...William had a fit when I left to take Maddie to school. He said he wanted to go to school too!
We babysat baby Lucas on Saturday morning for the first time ever. The plan was for Russell to drop him off at 8am. Maddie and William were out waiting for him in the front yard. They were so excited. They kept coming in and asking when he was going to get here. Russ finally arrived at 8:20 and they were so excited. Maddie had so much fun playing with him and asked if he could live with us. Auntie Susa said that was not option.
