Desert Get-A-Way
The second weekend in May, we took the kids for a little get-a-way to Palm Desert. We stayed at the Marriott Resort. It's the Marriott where my parents have their time share but we've never actually stayed on the resort side. It's enormous! We had a great weekend. We spent our time swimming at the pool, hitting up the mini sized golf course, enjoyed dinner at PF Changs, ice cream afterward and browsing through one of the very few bookstores left. The kids also loved the boat ride around the lake that surrounds the hotel. Maddie was not happy about having to wear the lifejacket but she quickly got over it and wanted to go again.

Maddie took this picture of Mikos and I. Good little photographer!
Ice cream post PF Changs dinner at "The River" (I think that's what it's called).

These weekend adventures are such fun for us and our little family. It's nice to get away from it all and just spend time together. The kids are at such fun ages right now as well. Can't wait to plan our next one!

Kids Spring Break
The kids had the week after Easter off for Spring Break. We didn't have much planned because of an upcoming weekend to Palm Desert so it was a pretty mellow week. I did leave work early that Thursday and took them to the Discovery Science Center for the afternoon. Maddie has been a couple of times with Mike and their Indian Princess tribe but William and I had never been. Maddie showed us the ropes. She knew that place like the back of her hand. We had a fun afternoon exploring the different exhibits- lots of cool, interactive activities for the kids to try out and get their hands dirty doing. Pretty neat place.

Ice coooold!
There was a fun little play store that both Maddie and William loved. It reminded me a bit of Pretend City. William especially loved playing there. I couldn't get him to leave. It was at the end of our day so I found a nice spot to sit down and watch them play. They served me up a few "meals". Very cute.

I give Pretend City two thumbs up! Maddie and William do too!!

Easter Sunday!
Easter Sunday started off with Maddie and William waking up at the crack (well, just before 7am) excited to see if the Easter Bunny had paid them a visit. Sure enough, colorful Easter eggs were left all over the house and Easter baskets were hidden for the kids to find. After they checked out their goodies and ate a breakfast of Fun Dip, we headed to church.

We spent the afternoon with our family at the Flores' family Easter celebration. It was such a nice day and the kids had a great time. Larry and Helen had an electric train and western town built in their backyard. What a neat play area! Maddie loved the train! She couldn't get enough of it.

Of course the celebration couldn't be complete without an Easter Egg Hunt! A great Easter was had by all!

Spring Sing
Palm Sunday
Every year, our church has an Easter Egg Hunt on Palm Sunday. We weren't able to attend last year because we were in Palm Springs with Grandma Jeanne and Papa Mick which was awesome BUT we were happy to be able to attend this year! We headed over to the park after church and enjoyed burgers from the In-and-Out truck and lots of egg gathering. It was the start to our Easter celebrating...

Long Beach Grand Prix
We were lucky to be given tickets to the Long Beach Grand Prix again this year from one of Mike's suppliers Tecate and once again, it was a super fun Saturday afternoon! We enjoyed some lunch, drinks and goodies at the Tecate hospitality tent and headed over to our seats in the stands to take in some of the racing. It was hot, loud, and crowded but we tried to keep our ear plugs in and had fun just taking it all in and watching the zooming cars. After being in the hot sun for awhile, we found refuge in the cool arena where the "Kid Zone" was. Maddie remembered this part of the event from last year and couldn't wait to purchase tickets to jump in the bouncers. This year, they had an enormous rock climbing wall for kids that was actually free. Maddie was all over it. She is SUCH a great climber. It was amazing. She climbed all the way to the top. I couldn't believe it. She was such a pro thanks to Indian Princess and maybe Pump-it-up birthday party practice. Fun, fun.
